Gilly is a PwC UK partner and chartered accountant. She is a practising audit partner within PwC’s Banking and Capital Markets team. She has recently been appointed Chair of the ICAEW’s Audit and Assurance Faculty and is also a Council Member at the ICAEW.
Gilly is PwC UK’s Head of Audit Strategy and Transformation and sits on PwC’s Assurance Executive Board. In her role, Gilly is responsible for the development of our external audit proposition, operating model, technology and tools, ensuring that they remain relevant and fit for the future. She leads for the firm on issues of assurance regulation and public policy.
Previous roles
Previous to this role Gilly was a Partner in PwC’s Financial Services regulatory team, leading regulatory investigations (s166s) and advising banking clients on the impact of regulation. Gilly was also the UK firm leader for regulatory reporting and spent some time seconded to the FSA reviewing supervisory strategy for high impact firms.
Prior to this role Gilly was a Partner in the PwC top tier assurance practice, leading FTSE 100 audits. Gilly has also had various audit and transaction roles within the firm, including a secondment to Washington DC and leading IFRS transition and implementation work for the top tier assurance practice.
Qualifications
MA, Mathematics, University College, University of Oxford. Chartered Accountant.
Accolades
In October 2015 Gilly was awarded a Women in the City Women of Achievement award in the professional services category.
Interests
Gilly regularly speaks and writes on a wide variety of topics including the future of assurance, technology in assurance, professionalism and ethics, and diversity in business. Gilly authored the ICAEW’s publication “Enhancing Relationships between Banks and their Audit Committees” and has recently published “Confidence in the Future…”. Gilly also wrote “The Revolution in Audit Reports” giving a lecture tour in Australia on the topic and presented it at the European Court of Auditors in Luxembourg.
