World Business Council for Sustainable Development
Rodney Irwin is the Managing Director of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development’s (WBCSD) Redefining Value and Education programs. He is also a member of the organization’s Senior Management Team. In this role, Rodney is responsible for overseeing projects designed to help companies measure and manage risk, gain competitive advantage and seize new opportunities by understanding environmental, social and governance (ESG) information. He is the link between WBCSD members and mainstream business standard setters and regulatory bodies and manages the organization’s relationships with key education partners including Yale and Lancaster Universities.
Rodney holds a BS in Economics, an MS in Management, and a doctorate degree in comparative corporate governance, ethical decision making and reporting from ISM Paris. Rodney has also completed the Masters in Sustainability Leadership at Cambridge University.
In his spare time, Rodney is committed to education and to lifelong learning. As part of this, he is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland, a Certified Fraud examiner, a Certified Compliance and Ethics Professional and a Specialist member of the Institute of Risk Management UK. He sits on The Council of the IIRC, is a Board Member of the Climate Disclosure Standards Board and sits on the Sustainability Council of several global businesses. Rodney is a Professor of Accounting and Sustainability in the Sustainability Faculty of Leuphana University, Luneberg, Germany; an honorary Teaching Fellow at Lancaster University Management School and an Executive Fellow at Yale School of Management.
